I’ve known this for ages, I’m not going to lie, but it’s gotten to the point where I physically will not leave my house without my charger. I charge my phone in restaurants, at work, in DJ booths in clubs, and on many a floor in shopping centres. Basically, the idea of being without a phone is like missing a limb, and festivals exacerbate the problem for the most part because there are often very few places to charge your phone. Uprawr is back – yessss! Although my favorite rock night is no longer located in the Purple Turtle (RIP), it’s returned with a vengeance to its original home, Dingwalls, in the heart of Camden Lock. This is where I got my first taste of the madness back in January 2012, and it’s even better than I remembered it.
When it comes to all-day festivals in the UK, there are an absolute multitude of them, and most of them do it very, very well. Some personal favorites of mine include Takedown and Hit The Deck, but I must admit that Slam Dunk Festival has been the highlight of my British musical calendar for many years. It’s now a staple feature for any rock fan, and thousands of us flock to either North (Leeds), South (Hatfield) or Midlands (Wolverhampton) for our fix. Or two of them. Or all three!
